Negativity is sure to sneak when we feel bad. When in a bad mood, negative emotions emerge and can easily overtake us. It is important to stay alert and prevent them from dragging us down.

Quick fixes:

  1. When feeling bad, try to detach from the situation. This will help you see things from a different perspective.
  2. Know that the negative self-talk you are experiencing at the moment is normal. Do not pay attention to it, but rather, just observe and be aware of it.
  3. Distract yourself. As hard as it may be at the moment, try doing something else, engage in mental activity of some kind.
  4. Know that soon these negative emotions will pass. Until then, do try to encourage yourself with some nice coping statements. Say them out loud, even if it may make you feel awkward.
  5. Wait for the change in your mood calmly and with peace of mind.
